Company Background

Genuine has its roots in Chicago in the late 1980s, when founder Phil McCaleb decided to change up his current business. McCaleb had a shop that repaired and sold vintage Italian scooters in Chicago, before moving into the parts market with his Scooterworks USA enterprise. But when he saw the increasing popularity of these mini-bikes, he decided to sell Taiwanese-built twist-n-go automatic scooters in two- and four-stroke engine types.

Because the company is smaller, with more knowledge of the United States market, Genuine can tailor its products to what its customers desire, with style and color changes to make these models more unique. Genuine offers several different models to meet customers’ needs, including the Roughhouse, Hooligan, Buddy, Venture and Kick lineups, with each one emulating the retro European style that customers have always loved.

The Genuine Buddy

The Buddy is one of Genuine’s leading models, and it comes in 50cc and 125cc options, as well as a brand-new, freeway-legal 170cc style! Its stylish exterior comes in classic colors like tangerine, seafoam, lavender, and Buddy red, among others. A USB charging port provides you with a place to keep your phone juiced up and under-seat storage gives you space for your helmet. All models come in at under 250 pounds dry weight, so they’re not cumbersome to transport or store, and they are all rated to get over 90 miles per gallon.


 

The Buddy 50 has a powerful two-stroke engine that packs a punch to make your errands more enjoyable. The Buddy 125 is ideal for first-time riders who want a little more performance for weekend rides and commuting. The Buddy 170i has a modernized electronic fuel-injection system that gives you all the power you need to cruise down the freeway.
